Virginia, Luray Caverns

Ok!!! two hour drive west to Luray, to tour the fantastic caverns or caves.  We followed the Shenandoah River hence the song being sung today 'Country Roads Take Me Home' (to the place I belong, WEST VIRGINIA etc etc) Rob was overcome on several of Paul's statements; he didnt know what interdigitate meant, and he wouldn't believe me.

The caves where well worth the drive and a mile and a half walk through some spectacular stalagmites and stalactites, they even had an organ deep into the cave that played on the rocks to create rather a poor sound quality (only in America). It was their 140th birthday and so they lit part of the caves up with candles and that was special.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch in the township of Luray, called in to the Shenandoah National Park a spectacular view of the river. On the way home we were hit by a downpour which sent the humidity soaring so home again to wine beer and nibbles and having fun organizing thai take away ha. We also found a great lager beer and bourbon which is very cheap. (Jim Bean$20 and vodka $18) for the litre
